Adam's Alps Trek Adventure
Adam took on our breathtaking charity trek covering 43km through the Mont Blanc region of the Alps. We caught up with him to hear all about it...
Hi Adam! Well, done on completing The Alps Trek. Incredible photos!
Have you ever done anything like this before Adam?
Yes, I completed the Three Peaks Challenge previously, but this was my first time trekking abroad.
Amazing, well done. How was it going on the trip abroad on your own for the first time?
I travelled to the airport in London alone to meet the group and the Global Adventure Challenges leader. I felt nervous and excited at the same time. I met the leader there, who was very helpful. We met the rest of the group and travelled to Geneva together. It was great meeting new people with similar interests and everyone got on well.
Sound great, and how was the transfer from the airport to your accommodation once you arrived in Geneva?
The transfer from the airport to our hostel was nice and easy. We met the French guide at the hostel where we spoke about the days ahead, our equipment and got to know each other. We had a few hours free and then had dinner together.
Sounds great, how were the guides?
The guides were very informative about the local area, the people and the nature.
Great, what happened on the first day of trekking?
In the morning we had breakfast and set off from the hostel. We saw beautiful views and trekked through snowy mountains and saw the wildlife. Our luggage was collected and taken to the next location for us.
How was the accommodation on the trip?
The hostels were very clean. The rooms were shared with bunk beds but some of the group did upgrade to private rooms.
What would you say were the highlights of the challenge and why?
The highlight of the challenge was the views! The peace and quiet in the mountains and seeing how beautiful the snow covered mountains were. It was also great meeting new people who shared the same interests. The guides were also very informative about the local area, people, and nature.
Did you get any free time to explore on the trip?
I had the last day to explore Chamonix and I took the cable car to Aiguille Du Midi and the train to see the amazing Mer de Glace (the ice cave) these are a must as you go over 4000m. I got some amazing photos.
Amazing! What would you say to anyone considering this challenge?
If you are thinking of doing this challenge, I would say you need to do it!
How would you rate your experience overall Adam?
I would give the whole experience a 10/10.
Thanks Adam. It sounds like you had an amazing time. We look forward to welcoming you back on another adventure!
