Coronavirus - Update 23 March 2020
Updated: 23 March 2020
We understand that participants will have many questions and concerns regards the current outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its spread around the world. This situation is changing on a daily basis but please be assured that we are monitoring the situation closely and are in contact with our local teams and airlines, as well as monitoring Public Health England, the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office). To keep up to date on these details too, you can follow the below links:
Coronavirus in the UK: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
Travel restriction to individual countries: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
International - The World Health Organisation: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019
The FCO on the 17th March advised all British nationals against all but essential international travel for the next 30 days. If your challenge is due to depart after the 30-day ban has ended and as long as the FCO has not restricted travel to the country you are visiting, then we will be continuing with your challenge. In this event, if you decide to cancel or defer your challenge, our standard cancellation policy will apply. If due to UK or Foreign government restrictions or official advice we cancel or defer your challenge, you will be given the opportunity to transfer to a new challenge or entitled to a full refund. Your health and safety is our primary concern and we will inform you if we decide to cancel your challenge.
We are pleased to say that the outlook is more positive and at this moment in time we have no plans to cancel any of our UK Challenges. However, as with our Overseas Challenges we are also monitoring this situation and if anything changes, we will be in touch with participants immediately
Undoubtedly this is a turbulent time for the travel industry but the outbreak will end and the travel market will bounce back… We always do! We are still taking bookings for challenges due to depart later in the year and 2021. We have had no suggestion to alter our current plans and have assurances from the FCO that they will look to lower their level of travel advice as soon as the situation allows.
Our final word, is that our thoughts are with our amazing participants, fantastic charity and corporate clients and our fabulous local ground teams and airlines who help us deliver amazing challenges all over the world. We hope you all stay safe, be sensible, follow advice given, remain calm and most of all keep a positive outlook until the outbreak ends.
