Jacqueline's Lapland Husky Trail Adventure

Jacqueline's Lapland Husky Trail Adventure

Jacqueline recently spent six days sledding over 240km across the Swedish wilderness on our Husky Sled Challenge. We caught up with her to find out all about it.

Hi Jacqueline! Well done for completing our Lapland Husky Trail challenge. It looks like you had an amazing time.

Have you ever done anything like this before Jacqueline?

I have previously done a trekking trip, but this was my first sled and camping trip. I did a husky sled taster day on a previous trip and loved it so I wanted to challenge myself more this time.

Amazing! Well done for challenging yourself. What would you say was the highlight of this challenge and why?

The highlight of the challenge for me was the scenery, it was stunning and witnessing the Northern Lights every evening was just incredible. Also, sledging across the snow, which sparkled like diamonds. I felt like I was in my very own snow globe scene.

That sounds amazing Jacqueline, we love your photos of the Northern Lights.  So, how did you find going on the trip on your own?

I was so nervous, doing the trip as a solo individual. I didn’t know what to expect, but I don’t know what I was worried about. It was both physically and mentally tough but the support of the group got us through it. I loved the fact that we started off as complete strangers and left with lifelong friendships after sharing the most incredible, life changing experience together.

How did you find going on a group trip for the first time?

The group was amazing and incredibly supportive. They helped when others were struggling, ensuring that everybody completed the challenge. I will say be prepared to share everything with your fellow teammates, as this is what really gets you through. My fondest memory was singing at the top of our voices in the wigwam tent, whilst around the campfire, while sitting on my raindeer skin.

How were the challenge leaders?

Our guide Amanda was outstanding. She kept us all in check and informed with a plan for each day. The staff at the snow lodge were friendly, approachable and happy to help.

How was the kit provided for the challenge?

The kit list was good, and the equipment provided was perfect.

Do you have any tips for the trip?

I took disposable heat warmers with me which helped, hot chocolate sachets to make up daily flasks, chocolate, snacks and sachets of peanuts which were all good energy boosters.

Thanks Jacqueline. We hope to see you again on your next adventure soon!
